Spring break from school gave us the perfect opportunity to prep our travel documents. A quick trip to Chicago to visit some consulates was in order. First stop, the Australian consulate to renew boy’s passport. Documents presented, photos taken, signatures witnessed, and off we go. His old passport is cancelled and a new one good for five more years should be on the way soon. Next morning, the falling snow makes us debate the walk across town, but we decide to plow on and save the taxi fare. Cold and a bit bedraggled, we make it to the Indian consulate to request tourist visas. The line outside the aging office is quite long when we arrive, but we make it to the counter. Documents presented again, US passports handed over, along with some hefty fees, and hopefully all will be processed soon.
Now, passport-less, we hit the airport and returned home to Kansas City. Fingers crossed, the passports will follow us home in a few days.
